Abaloid was established in Leicester in 1972, moving to the present premises on Scudamore Road in 1987 after a decade of continuous expansion at the previous established site at Morris Road, Leicester.
A trained and efficient workforce is employed, to work a three-shift system, producing mouldings of an extremely diverse nature including two-shot/ two colours, covering the full range of injection moulding possibilities.
The robotised machines use up to date computer technology to assist the workforce in ensuring that the stringent productivity and quality expectations are met.
High volumes of spam becomes more than just a nuisance
Like most manufacturing companies Abaloid Plastics has to be highly efficient to compete. Due to the high volumes of spam being received and poor reliability of their mail server it became clear that a system upgrade was needed to maintain efficiency.
After a number of meetings with Andrew Cowley to discuss requirements Lucid proposed replacing the aging PCs and servers with HP equipment throughout. HP equipment was chosen due to HPs proven reliability and excellent track record of customer support. To provide email, faxing and file and print sharing Microsoft’s Small Business server operating system was proposed as a replacement for Windows NT Server 4.0.

Barracuda Anti Spam appliance puts an end to spam
To tackle the spam problem Lucid proposed a dedicated anti spam appliance from Barracuda Networks.
“We noticed a massive drop in spam as soon as the Barracuda was installed. After Lucid performed a little fine tuning the Barracuda now blocks over 600 spam messages a day without affecting genuine emails.”
